How is the Median Salary calculated?

The median or percentile 50th salary represents the midpoint of the distribution. Hence, half of all the salaries are above it, and the other half are below it.

Therefore, it is a more neutral measure of central tendency because extreme values do not affect the median calculation.

In most tables and charts, we use the Median as the key reference point. The Median Salary is considered more neutral than the average.

As additional points, we also provide the percentiles 10th, 25th, 75th, and 90th to view salaries’ distribution by each role and organization annual budget.
